Hi, new to the forum, I've searched for this problem but I'm unable to find a similar post, sorry if I've missed it.
I've had my 71 plate Ioniq 5 for just one week, thought we'd try a 260 round trip to see how fast it charges away from home. We arrived at the services and plugged in, waiting a few minutes then charger displayed "Failed to initialize charging Error 011", I tried the charger next to it but same message. I rang gridserve and they said the 011 code relates to a vehicle problem, I tried a slower 50kw charger at the same services but it failed to charge. Googled nearby chargers and found one 15 minutes away so went there, had to queue for 20 minutes until a charger was available, plugged in, failed to start charging, last resort I googled 7kw chargers near me, found one 16 miles away, by this time we didn't have enough charge to get home, plugged in and it started charging, took an hour and a half to get 10% charge which was just enough to get us home.
Sorry for long post, has anyone had problems charging away from home?
Thankyou for your help.
Ioniq 5 fails to ccs rapid charge
I recently did a 700 mile road trip and had success at all the chargers I used.
- 350kw Be.EV chargers in Manchester, which initially returned 25kwh but I moved to the next one and it returned 100kwh.
- 50kw Pod Point charger in Manchester, returned 50kwh
- 350kw Gridserve charger at Chievely Services on the M4, returned 100kwh
- 22kw Mer Chargers in Winchester, returned 11kwh which is car's max AC charge rate
The speeds on the fastest chargers weren't amazing - I have hit 225kwh on an Ionity charger previously - but this is to do with a mix of battery and environmental conditions and the pre-conditioning didn't always kick in. Overall it was stress-free and hopefully yours is just an isolated experience and you'll fair better next time
