Hello,we are looking at buying our first ev and have narrowed it down to the Ioniq 5.
Having done a bit of research I think we would be looking at the ultimate version, probably looking at spending around £30000.
What should we be looking for when we view cars and should we be looking at buying fron a Hyundai dealer?
Are there any dog owners on here as we have a large dog that would have to comfortably fit,do any owners use a dog guard?
Sorry for all the questions but it is a large purchase and a big move to get an ev car.
Thanks Jo
Looking at buying ioniq 5
I purchased a 72 plate Ultimate on March 31st and I love it. It's the matte gravity gold with the light interior. Purchased from local main dealer for £28000 and because it was one of their approved cars they 'topped up' the warranty so I had the full 5 years which was a big selling point for me.Have to say paying that amount of money I just felt safer buying from main dealer Did have the 12v battery issue not long after getting it but it was quickly resolved.
It's also pretty accurate on battery usage. Since I have had it I have covered about 3500 miles and its cost me about £80. I have a Ohme Home charger and use Octopus Agile Tarriff which often gives me free or very cheap charging
I have a 3 year old boxer and he has no trouble stretching out in the 'boot'. I don't use a dog guard as he is really good in the car and I can use the tether points to keep him safe
Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply, gravity gold is my favourite colour although husband prefers silver and like you we are after the light interior.Did you go for 2wd or 4wd?
Great to know your boxer is comfy in the Ioniq, not sure if we need a guard but the Ioniq seems a longish car and not sure if he would try to join us in the front!
What is the 12v issue you mention?
Just looking at chargers at the moment,do you recommend the Ohme as there are so many to choose?
What sort of range are you getting?
One other thing does the car come with both charging leads?
Thanks

Hi
I went 2wd - it's more than powerful enough for me. Range is pretty much as stated at around 275-300 but I don't let mine go below 20% and only charge to about 90%. It is recommended to charge little and often.
The Gravity Gold by the way looks more silver than gold
I picked the Ohme charger because that's what Octopus recommended and it all synced up seamlessly and its been fine since.
Yes the car came with all leads and the V2L connector- Ive never had reason to use them though so I just put them in the Frunk so at least I always have them.
There was an issue with 12v battery not holding charge. It was said the quality of the battery was poor. Anyway, there's an update now that resolves the issue. Just make sure that wherever you buy it from gets that update done

Thanks for the reply,we have just put a deposit down on an ultimate awd with tech pack,it’s in a grey silver colour with the cream interior.
It’s from a Hyundai dealer so comes with the extra warranty.
I will ask them about the 12v problem and make sure it’s had the update.

Had our RWD Ultimate with tech pack just over a year and absolutely love it. Travelled Norwich to Glasgow, Norwich to Bruges in cold, wet weather, and several other round trips of 200-300 miles, without range anxiety. Get into the habit of a little pre-planning long journeys, and you will be fine.
A home charger, preferably on the Agile Octopus Go tariff, is a must for cheaper motoring. If you have solar panels a Zappi 2 charger is also worth looking at, unless you already have an EV charger installed.
Have fun with your new car

After a busy couple of weeks we have finally put a deposit down on a car that we pick up on Wednesday.
Now to get the charger sorted!
Have read some of the old forum posts and can’t believe how long some of you waited for your cars,5 days is more than enough!
